Special Event Requirements
The City of Palo Alto requires that all special events practice zero waste through waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting measures. These requirements include:
- Providing garbage, recycle, and compost carts for the event.
- Employing Zero Waste purchasing practices.
- Ensuring that the City of Palo Alto’s Zero Waste requirements are followed by vendors/display table participants.
Special Event Waste Collection Service

An event waste station consists of a 32-gallon garbage cart, a 64-gallon recycle cart, and a 64-gallon compost cart, with corresponding signage.
